This study aims to investigate the components compatible with the Islamic-Iranian lifestyle within the pattern of shared living among low-income groups through examining the lived experiences of residents in the Tarlan Darasi neighborhood of Tabriz. The research adopted a qualitative approach using thematic analysis. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 20 experts, local residents, and informed participants, and analyzed through open, axial, and selective coding processes. Findings revealed that shared living in this neighborhood is not merely an economic response to housing shortages, but rather a socio-cultural adaptation to housing crises, economic pressures, and limited access to independent urban housing. The results indicate that several components of the Islamic-Iranian lifestyle including cooperation, family-centeredness, neighborhood ethics, collective participation, and kinship relations are reproduced within the context of shared living. However, spatial density, weakened privacy, involuntary social exposure, and residential insecurity have simultaneously contributed to psychological exhaustion and the erosion of personal and religious boundaries in everyday life. Overall, the findings suggest that improving the quality of shared living in low-income urban neighborhoods requires the revitalization of indigenous housing patterns, institutional support, culturally responsive spatial design, and the realization of spatial justice in urban housing policies.
