In the course of transactions with his opponents, Imam Ali used to make use of lingual and none-lingual methods. Both before and during his government with his opponents, Imam Ali made use of verbal negotiation and sometimes letter writing particularly during his government. Mention can also be made to other lingual methods such as giving sermons and admonition including the following cases: argumentation with the opponent, threatening them, blaming them, enlightening through the clarification of their unjust position and their conspiracy and machination. Imam Ali's none-lingual methods include: tolerance, armed battle, and taking action against heresies.
In the collection of data, he has made use of the reference to the library; and in his judgment on the preceding similar researches, the author has made use of descriptive-analytic method.
