Sin is a veil of darkness that obscures the servant’s relationship with the Creator. Although sin is prohibited by religious law and God disapproves of human disbelief, He does not compel all human beings to accept guidance. Thus, the occurrence of sin is realized in the existential (takwini) order. This research, conducted using an analytical and descriptive method, first examines the nature of sin and its legislative (tashri‘i) aspect. It then explores the existential permission granted to humans for sinning and the relationship between God’s knowledge and will concerning human transgressions, based on the mysticism of Ibn Arabi.
Key concepts such as divine knowledge and will, immutable entities (a‘yan thabita), the secret of divine decree (qadar), divine wisdom, and the system of divine names are analyzed. From this perspective, God does not force humans to sin; instead, each person, according to their immutable entity, chooses disbelief or faith based on their existential potential. Each immutable entity is pleasing to its Lord, and God manifests the desires of these entities in the world of creation.
The root of differences in the world of creation lies in the contrast between the divine names in the realm of divine unity (wahidiyyah). This issue has a direct impact on human cognition, behavior, and life experiences, often leading to misunderstandings about the events arising from it. As human understanding evolves, behavior correspondingly shifts. Ultimately, all return to the Name of (al-Rahman).
