Seeking for spirituality and mysticism is one major innate attractive inclination of man developed in different guises aiming at some goals. Divine religions have always been one rich, reliable, and matchless resource for meeting man’s spiritual needs. Religious devotion depending on strong cognitive supports and guided practice has always been the most reliable method to develop man’s spiritualistic potencies leading him to his ultimate goal. Some part of fundamental developments in modern societies led to the intensification of man’s spiritualistic inclination from one side, to the decline of the authority of divine religions in their inclusive function of meeting those needs from another side, and to the appearance of functional substitutes and different rival schools of secular spiritualism from a third side.
In what follows, the author has tried to review and analyze the role that Islam plays in the genuine spirituality in the religious lifestyle citing the Islamic references. For the collection of data, the method is the reference to documents, and for the explanation of those data, the methods are descriptive-analytic and interpretative
